ViaBTC’s referral program lets you earn a share of the eligible pool fees generated by miners you invite. General Referral offers a 10% referral rate for 12 months from the referred user’s registration. Approved ViaBTC Ambassadors receive 20% while their Ambassador status remains valid.
These percentages apply to eligible platform-fee revenue—not the referred miner’s total mining rewards. Your earnings depend on the mining activity of qualified users you refer.
How to Start Earning ViaBTC Referral Rewards
- Create a ViaBTC account or sign in. Registered users automatically receive a referral link and referral code.
- Open Account Center → Referral Rewards. Find and copy your referral link or code.
- Share your link or code. The new user must register through your link or enter your code during registration to establish the referral relationship. Clearly identify the link as a referral link when sharing it.
- Help the referred user start mining. Registration alone does not generate rewards. The user must connect hashrate to ViaBTC and generate mining earnings.
- Check your referral results. Visit the Referral Rewards page to view your referral data and rewards.
These steps follow ViaBTC’s official referral guide.
How Referral Rewards Are Calculated
ViaBTC calculates referral rewards from the eligible platform-fee revenue generated by a referred user’s mining activity:
Referral reward = Eligible platform-fee revenue × Applicable referral rate
For an illustrative example, suppose a qualified referred miner generates 0.005 BTC in eligible platform-fee revenue over a given period:
| Referral tier | Referral rate | Calculation | Referral reward |
|---|---|---|---|
| General Referral | 10% | 0.005 BTC × 10% | 0.0005 BTC |
| Ambassador Referral | 20% | 0.005 BTC × 20% | 0.001 BTC |
The 0.005 BTC in this example is fee revenue, not the miner’s total mining earnings. The example demonstrates the calculation rather than forecasting actual income.
General Referral: 10% for 12 Months
General Referral is available to registered ViaBTC users without a separate application. The referrer receives 10% of eligible platform-fee revenue generated by each qualified referred user.
The reward validity period lasts 12 months from the referred user’s registration date. It does not begin when that user first starts mining. When one referral’s validity period ends, it does not affect rewards from other referrals that remain eligible.
See ViaBTC’s General Referral rules for details.
Ambassador Referral: 20% While Status Remains Valid
The Ambassador tier increases the referral rate to 20% of eligible platform-fee revenue. Ambassador referrals have no fixed expiry while Ambassador status remains valid, subject to the program’s rules.
Applying for Ambassador Status
ViaBTC lists at least five valid referred users in the preceding month as a condition for applying. Valid referred users are main-account users with connected hashrate.
Applicants must also meet the current invited-hashrate requirements, have no malicious or suspicious behavior, and complete the required application information. ViaBTC may adjust its hashrate thresholds, so check the live Ambassador page before applying. Applications are evaluated by ViaBTC, including referral numbers and hashrate performance.
To apply, open Account Center → Referral Rewards and select Apply, then complete and submit the application form. ViaBTC’s application guide states that the review result is sent by email within seven working days.
Keeping Ambassador Status
Once approved, your existing General Referral relationships, link, and code are upgraded to Ambassador Referral.
To maintain status, ViaBTC requires at least 10 valid referred users each month, meaning referred main accounts with connected hashrate. This is an activity requirement, not a requirement to recruit 10 new users every month.
If the requirement is not met for three consecutive months, Ambassador status is automatically revoked, Ambassador referral rewards are canceled, and the account is downgraded to General Referral. See the Ambassador FAQ for the current assessment rules.
What Referred Users Receive
ViaBTC offers users who successfully register through a referral link or code a 30-day coupon with 50% off mining fees, as described in its official referral upgrade announcement.
The discount applies to pool service fees. Users should check the coupon’s current terms in their account for the applicable conditions.
Which Mining Activity Counts?
The referral relationship is established at the referred user’s main-account level and extends to their sub-accounts. Eligible mining activity across those sub-accounts can therefore contribute to referral rewards.
Rewards from merged-mining coins are excluded from the referral calculation. This exclusion should not be interpreted as excluding the user’s other eligible mining activity.
Business agents and their referred users are not eligible for the standard referral-reward program. These conditions are stated in ViaBTC’s referral rules.
When Rewards Are Credited
ViaBTC allocates referral rewards daily at 08:30 (UTC+8), although actual crediting may be delayed. Check the Referral Rewards page for your actual referral data and credited rewards.
Why a Referral May Not Generate Rewards
If a referral produces no reward, check whether:
- The referral relationship was established during registration. Only new users who register through your referral link or code count as your referrals.
- The referred user has started mining. An account without connected hashrate does not generate referral rewards.
- The mining activity has generated earnings. ViaBTC notes that low hashrate or a short connection duration may result in no mining earnings.
- The referral is still within its reward validity period. General Referral rewards expire 12 months after the referred user registers.
- The activity is eligible. Merged-mining coin rewards and business-agent referrals are excluded.
- Risk controls have been triggered. Self-referral and suspicious or abusive activity can invalidate rewards.

FAQ
Do I earn 10% or 20% of the referred miner’s total mining rewards?
No. The percentage applies to eligible platform-fee revenue generated by the referred user’s mining activity, not their total mining rewards.
Do I need to become an Ambassador before sharing a referral link?
No. Registered ViaBTC users can start with General Referral without a separate application. Ambassador status requires an application and approval.
Does the 12-month General Referral period start when the user begins mining?
No. It starts when the referred user registers. Starting mining later does not reset that period.
Do I need 10 new referrals every month to remain an Ambassador?
No. The published requirement is to maintain at least 10 valid referred main-account users with connected hashrate each month. Falling below this requirement for three consecutive months results in revocation of Ambassador status.
Is there a cap on Ambassador referral rewards?
ViaBTC’s Ambassador FAQ explicitly states that Ambassador referral rewards have no cap. Actual earnings still depend on eligible fee revenue generated by qualified referred users, so they vary with mining activity.
